Client Spotlight: Anne Darron, Executive Director at Washington Heritage Museums
What do you love most about what you do?
I love that our museums share the Washington family history with new generations - both their successes and their struggles. I also love that I get the opportunity to meet and work with some of the best members and volunteers. I'm always amazed by the dedication of our volunteers!
Was there a person or experience that inspired your career?
Two things come to mind - my parents took me to a lot of historic house museums while I was growing up. I loved the architectural details! As far as a person inspiring my career, this is my chance to thank Gail Braxton. I interned under her when I was in college, worked for her in the early 2000's and was fortunate enough to work with her again when I came back to work in 2013. She is an amazing volunteer for the organization and has been for decades.
What does your business do better than anyone else?
I like that we are small enough to be nimble. Our dedicated site interpreters are able to deliver personalized tours to guests upon their arrival.
Tell us about you!
My husband and I enjoy playing with our two kittens, who are adorable but also mischievous! I enjoyed watching the Waltons while I was growing up. I think it gave me some insight into what it was like for my parents to grow up during the Depression.
Is there anything else you want to add?
Washington Heritage Museums has a great group of very dedicated volunteers. They help beautify the gardens, staff our museum store, serve on committees and so much more! That they share their amazing talent with WHM in what would otherwise be their spare time, never ceases to provide inspiration!
