Business Development Specialist (full time)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving the growth of the organization by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding the customer base. They will work closely with the CEO, the Client Relations Specialist, and the marketing team to develop and implement effective business development strategies. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of the industry, market trends, and Flair Communication’s value proposition and benefits to its clients.
Although each position in our business has specific responsibilities, Flair team members are cross-trained to be able to complete any core function as necessary: website design/maintenance, social media graphics creation/post messaging/posting, and basic knowledge of Google Business Optimization, Google Ads Management, email marketing, and creation and analysis of performance reports. Cross-training ensures our team can consistently deliver the most responsive and highest quality service to our clients.
GENERAL DUTIES:

Conduct market research to identify target markets, industry trends, and potential clients.

Analyze competitors and their strategies to identify areas for differentiation.

Identify emerging market trends and technologies that could create new business opportunities.

Collaborate with the CEO to define business development goals and objectives.

Develop strategic plans and initiatives to achieve growth targets.

Create and implement sales and marketing strategies to generate leads and convert them into clients.

Proactively seek and identify potential clients through various channels such as cold calling, networking events, referrals, and online platforms.

Work closely with the CEO to align business development strategies with overall company objectives.

Provide input and feedback on product development and enhancements based on market demands and feedback from leads and clients.

Maintain accurate records of business development activities, leads, and customer interactions using CRM, spreadsheets, and project management software.

Analyze sales and market data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges.

Prepare regular reports and presentations for the CEO, highlighting key performance indicators and progress toward business goals.

Attend networking events to generate leads and business connections.

Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations and proposals to potential clients, showcasing the company's products or services and addressing client needs and concerns.

Work closely with Client Relations Specialist to identify potential new revenue through existing clients’ business needs.
SKILLS • COMPETENCIES
Business Acumen: A strong understanding of the digital marketing industry, including trends, competitors, and emerging technologies. The ability to identify new business opportunities, evaluate market potential, and make informed strategic decisions to optimize target markets and agency profitability.
Sales and Negotiation Skills: Proficient in building and maintaining client relationships, pitching services, and closing deals. Exceptional communication and persuasive abilities are essential for negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with potential clients or partners. Outgoing and independent personality to initiate and develop new leads, and contacts.
Lead Generation and Prospecting: Must be able to identify and target potential clients through research, networking, and utilization of various lead generation methods. Must demonstrate experience in conducting market analysis and using data-driven insights to identify high-potential prospects.
Industry Knowledge: An understanding of digital marketing channels, strategies, and tactics is crucial. This includes familiarity with all of Flair Communication's services and benefits of each to clients, including but not limited to professional website design & maintenance, search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, social media marketing, content marketing, email marketing, and other relevant areas. This knowledge helps to effectively articulate the agency's value proposition and tailor solutions to clients' needs.
Strategic Thinking: The ability to develop and implement long-term business development strategies aligned with the agency's goals. This involves the ability to analyze market trends, identify competitive advantages, and position the agency as a leader in the industry. Strategic thinking enables the specialist to spot opportunities for expansion, partnerships, and/or diversification.
Relationship Building: Proficient in building and nurturing relationships with potential clients, industry influencers, and partners. This includes attending industry events, conferences, and networking activities to establish connections that can lead to new business opportunities.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of business development efforts. Ability to track key performance indicators (KPIs), identify areas for improvement, optimize strategies, and make data-driven recommendations for future initiatives.
Adaptability and Resilience: Recognizes digital marketing as a dynamic industry that requires the ability to adapt to changing trends, technologies, and client needs. Must be resilient, able to handle rejection, persistent, and motivated to pursue new opportunities.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Skilled at communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams within the agency, such as client relations, marketing, creative, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of projects and client satisfaction. Possess a collaborative mindset to align internal efforts and deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.
Continuous Learning: Must stay current on industry advancements, new marketing strategies, and digital tools. Must be a lifelong learner to bring fresh ideas, innovative approaches, and industry best practices to the agency's business development efforts.
HOURS • COMPENSATION • BENEFITS
Monday - Thursday 8am-5pm (one hour or lunch) and Friday 9am-Noon
Occasional evenings may be required for networking events

Paid Time Off (PTO):
120 hours per year (3 weeks) - accrues each payroll period (approx 10 hours per month)
Retirement Plan with Company Match: Simple IRA at Charles Schwab - Flair Communication shall contribute a match of an employee’s contribution (up to 3% of the employee’s annual salary). Eligibility: Any full or part-time employee who has earned a minimum employment compensation of $5,000 in the prior year or $5,000 in the current year as an employee of Flair Communication.
Health Insurance Supplement: Employees who purchase their own individual health insurance plan are eligible for a company supplement of 65% of the monthly premium after 90 days of employment.
MISCELLANEOUS BENEFITS
Flair Communication is a member of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) & other local professional organizations. Staff members are eligible and encouraged to attend functions for networking opportunities. Flair Communication will pay for the cost to attend pre-approved business networking events, luncheons, and other related events.
Flair Communication will reimburse employees, the standard IRS mileage rate and parking fees for travel to meetings, networking events, photography sessions, or other required appointments where the employee must use his/her personal vehicle.

A signed confidentiality agreement and non-compete agreement will be required as a condition of employment.
CREDENTIALS:

Minimum of 3 years of full-time professional experience - preferably in sales, marketing or client relations

Strong performance record in sales, marketing and agency client relations preferred

Bachelor's Degree (business, marketing, digital marketing, PR, or communications preferred)
